A week of Connecticut History Museum visits, Keeler Tavern, possible history walk and Colonial Fair put on by parents.

EXPLORERS
Day 1: Atlas bk. pg. 12,13,14,15 Fill in paper that refers to pg. 14-15 (located in teacher edition of Atlas.
Day 2: World Explorer Map - (This will be folded in 4ths and put in Social Studies folder) Look at map and talk about what it shows. On Back of map read about Henry Hudson. Hand out information on Hudson, stopping to understand each paragraph. Fill in chart as they read.
Day 3: May have to continue with Hudson. Begin John Cabot - read papers, filling in Venn Diagram. Refer to map and put these voyages on large Explorer map.
Day 4: Continue with John Cabot if needed. Put both explorers on the time line. Discuss similarites and differences between the 2. Start Jacques Cartier. Draw his route on the map. Read through carefully, stopping after each paragraph to discuss. Put him on the time line.
Day 5: Do 2 assessments to grade. (Jacques Cartier) Giovanni Verrazano - give the sheets. Read and discuss.

Day 6: Continue with Verrazano - put on time line. Discuss similarities and differences of these.

Day 7 - 10. Concluding Explorers play. Divide them into groups of each explorer learned and have them make up a skit based on what they learned. Other students take notes. Website activity? We used this one year with Liza. I
